All The Field’s A Stage’....at The Plough’s Open-Air Theatre Festival

After a year of enforced closure, The Plough Arts Centre plans to reopen with a bang this summer and one that will reverberate across 15 open-air theatre venues as the Torrington based arts charity kicks off what must be the largest Open-Air Theatre Festival in the country. 

With 54 outdoor theatre performances taking place from 11 June to 4 Sept across North Devon (plus one in North Somerset that crept into the mix!) there are endless reasons for lovers of theatre and open spaces to be tempted into the great outdoors this summer.

Three Cheers at The Plough

It is often said that ‘good things come in threes’, so after a year in which it has been hard to find even one thing to cheer about, The Plough Arts Centre in Great Torrington has been delighted to suddenly have three causes for celebration within the space of 24 hours.

Plough Bounces Back with Plans to Reopen

After enjoying only 20 days of being open in the last 12 months, trustees of The Plough Arts Centre have confirmed the long-awaited good news that The Plough can begin to reopen its doors from Tues 22 June. Hugh Wormington, chair of the trustees of the charity, announced:

Roger McGough to judge the 2021 Plough Poetry Prize

The Plough Arts Centre in Great Torrington has today (19 January) announced that Roger McGough OBE CBE, one of the nation’s most well-known and best-loved poets, will be the judge of The 2021 Plough Poetry Prize.

Arts Centre video goes viral

A short video produced for The Plough Arts Centre in Great Torrington to explain to customers its covid safety measures has already reached nearly 14,000 people on Facebook alone, after just over a week online.

The Plough Arts Centre supports local artists and businesses with Christmas programme

The Plough Arts Centre in Great Torrington has launched an ambitious programme of Christmas events in a bid to draw more people to the historic North Devon town, and support local artists and performers.

The Plough's traditional Christmas Craft Fair returns on 15-17 December with loads of handmade gifts, cards and decorations, beautifully hand-made by local artists and makers.

Plough Arts Centre sets sights on becoming accessible for ALL performers

Steph Hurley has Cerebral Palsy but that doesn’t stop the 22 year old from performing on stage at her favourite space, The Plough Arts Centre.

Recently she was also a bit of a film star appearing alongside John Cooper Clarke and dancers from the Candoco Dance Company in a video to support The Plough’s bid for funding to help them become accessible for ALL performers.
