Vacancy: Marketing Executive (40 hours per month)

The Plough Arts Centre is seeking an experienced, creative and audience focussed Marketing Executive to join the marketing team and promote The Plough Arts Centre and our vibrant programme of events. Working 40 hours each month (10 hours per week), you will play a key role in developing the public awareness of The Plough Arts Centre and sister venue The Plough St.Anne’s while supporting our financial resilience through successful ticket sales of programmed events. This role is a job-share with the potential for growth in remit and hours.

Hours: Job Share, 10 hours per week (with potential for growth in hours and remit)

Location: The Plough Arts Centre, Great Torrington, Devon EX38 8HQ

Employment type: PAYE

Salary: To be discussed- based on experience

Start: Immediate (subject to notice)

About The Plough

The Plough Arts Centre provides exciting opportunities for all people to experience a wide and vibrant range of high quality arts events both as audience and participants. Through creative partnerships the Plough Arts Centre is a welcoming and dynamic venue for artistic expression and education, responsive to the needs of the local community and a beacon for the arts across North Devon - visible and valued throughout the South West.

From our stunning rural setting we offer a varied and exciting programme of arts events and activities. We aim to entertain, inspire, educate and challenge in equal measure. Our packed annual programme includes film, live events, exhibitions, workshops and educational outreach for people of all ages, interests and abilities. We think we are ‘the largest arts centre in the smallest town’ and we know our positive impact is felt across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote our dynamic, vibrant and engaging programme of events
  • Build positive relationships with artists, agents, companies, and collaborators.
  • Contribute to audience development strategies and income generation.
  • Work alongside the CEO and programming team to ensure the promotional opportunities are identified and realised.
  • Conduct thorough post-campaign analysis to identify areas for improvement and inform future marketing strategies.
  • To attend the weekly programming and marketing meeting online (Currently Weds between 11am- midday)

Requirements for the Role

You will have experience in marketing, be digitally literate and a quick study in learning new programs, processes and planning projects. This role might suit a freelancer looking for guaranteed hours or someone returning to work after a hiatus. The marketing function at The Plough is busy and varied, requiring the planning, design and production of print and digital communication to promote the events at The Plough, as well as to communicate with various internal and external stakeholders. The role will also require initiative and organisational skills for the continued improvement of marketing systems and to capitalise on new opportunities.

Marketing experience in the Arts / events industry (D)

Experience with Programmes:

Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Indesign (D) 

Canva or other cloud DTP tool (D) 

Any email campaign builder tool (D) 

Online file collaboration suites (Google, Microsoft or other) (D) 

Social Media Marketing (D):

  • Facebook Planner
  • Facebook ads

Google PPC (D)

Experience is desirable but any of these can be taught to /learned by a person with creative experience and an ability to learn quickly.
