Marine 'Town Hall' Meeting
Join the North Devon UNESCO Biosphere to hear about their marine projects, share your work and have your say about future marine activities.
Who: Everyone is welcome whether you work in the marine or maritime sector, or are just interested in understanding more about the marine environment of the UNESCO Biosphere.
What: We will give a brief overview of marine work we've done, showcase some ongoing projects, have lightning talks from other organisations with a marine focus, and most importantly, leave plenty of time for your questions and input to future marine plans. A light lunch will be provided.
Why: The North Devon UNESCO Biosphere includes several hundred square kilometres of marine space from the Taw-Torridge estuary to Lundy Island. This marine environment hosts a range of activities from fishing to surfing, which in turn benefit local communities by supporting food security, wellbeing, economic diversity among others.
The UNESCO Biosphere is uniquely positioned to support effective management of this marine environment for the benefit of the environment, people, and the economy. To do this effectively we must listen to the diversity of voices involved in marine activities, and importantly, bring new voices to the table who are still learning about the ways in which the marine environment impacts their lives.
