Emerging poet, Nathan Rodney-Jones, guides us as both local and outsider in the landscape of a small village community - charting its people, the rhythm of their lives and the daily humanity of their world. Our narrator returns to their home village following their mother's death - tracing the changes to both the world of their old locality and to their own life.

Nathan has been a regular fringer and theatre enthusiast since his first fringe a decade ago, aged 9. Following viewing a particularly innuendo-heavy show one year it was declared that despite his age, 'Nathan watches everything!'. Having performed his first full-length poetry show at this year's fringe, Nathan is excited to share his love for performance and the written/spoken word with wider audiences.

The potential and dynamic power of words has always excited Nathan, precipitating his own descent into the murky art of scribbling poems himself. A regular performer at open mic nights in Devon, Norfolk and wider online - Nathan is interested in the energetic power of the spoken word hoping to use the varied soundscapes of his work to share this passion.

Review by Mark Ashmore 23/06/2023

It is abundantly clear from the first second that Nathan Rodney-Jones’steps onstage, that he has a love of words, if you love words too, then this is the show for you.

Nathan’s lyrical and performative dexterity are impressive enough, but the images and emotions he conjures from colliding ideas, syntax and rythm are at times so intoxicating, I found myself completely caught up imagining one description, with just moments to spare before the next.

Nathan guides us on a journey home, along the way we are treated to an exploration of how the changing landscapes and locations enroute, mirror, intertwine and amplify the changes in the life of the passenger.

The vocal dexterity on display here can only be admired and with a completely bare stage, everything is created for you by Nathan’s words, there are a lot of them, but each one matters.

Buy a ticket, take a seat, go on this journey and see where it takes you.
