Summer is here, and so is the excitement! The Plough Arts Centre presents an unforgettable journey with 28 world-class performances by 12 incredible theatre companies, set against the backdrop of 12 stunning open-air venues across North Devon!
Beautiful Venues, Amazing Shows: The Plough Arts Centre has partnered with some of North Devon’s most beautiful spots, including Arlington Court, Clovelly Court, Hartland Abbey, The Lodge at Eggesford, and Blackberry Farm, Milton Damerel. Since 2000, The Plough Arts Centre Open Air Theatre has been bringing unforgettable performances to these stunning locations.
Opening Night Extravaganza: Mark your calendars for Wednesday, 19th June, as Badock Gardens in Holsworthy kicks off the festivities with Miracle Theatre’s Love Riot. Dive into a whirlwind of love and laughter in this vibrant re-imagining of Hannah Cowley’s revolutionary play, The Belle’s Stratagem. It's a rollercoaster of status, scandal, and etiquette that's sure to captivate audiences of all ages—from teens to grandparents! Don’t miss additional performances on 19th July at Tapeley Park and 20th July at Castle Hill, Filleigh.
Family Fun with Dr. Dolittle: Meet the doctor who can talk to animals in The Adventures of Dr. Dolittle! This delightful family musical, brought to life by Illyria, is filled with humour, excitement, and dazzling performances. Catch it at Castle Hill, Filleigh on Saturday, 29th June, and join us for the festival's grand finale on Sunday, 25th August at Castle Drogo.
Magical Shakespearean Nights: Step into the enchanting world of Shakespeare with The Winter’s Tale, performed by Sun & Moon Theatre. This vibrant production, filled with comedy, drama, romance, and magic, is perfect for all ages. Experience it at Lapford Mill, Reforge Retreat, Castle Hill, Filleigh, and Castle Hill Gardens, Torrington.
Something for Everyone: Our diverse lineup includes Sherlock and Watson, Pride and Prejudice, The Gondoliers, Little Women, The Importance of Being Earnest, The Hound of the Baskervilles, The Wind in The Willows, The Secret Garden, The Merry Wives of Windsor, The Tempest, The Secret Diary of Henry VIII, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream + Twelfth Night.
Kids' Pre-Show Drama Workshops: Before many family shows, kids aged 6 to 11 can join pre-show drama workshops to explore the story and have fun while adults enjoy the beautiful gardens.
Pack a Picnic and Enjoy the Show: Bring a picnic, enjoy free garden entry before performances, and savour an evening of outstanding theatre under the open sky. Refreshments are available at all venues, and don’t forget to participate in our exciting cash raffle at each event.
