Joy to all mankind... Bah!

Spend an evening in the company of a mean, tight-fisted, squeezing, grasping, clutching old miser. Bah! Watch horrified as Ebenezer Scrooge is haunted by four creepy ghosts (wooo-oooh) each one more terrifying than the last. Bah! Sob at the bedside of a tiny, malnourished child riven with rickets. Bah! Yes, the team that brought you Great Expectations, Dracula and The Odyssey will now take you on a grim journey through the dark, dismal streets of Victorian London, where Ignorance and Want cower together...

David Mynne:

'Veteran Cornish actor' and a founder member of the internationally acclaimed Kneehigh Theatre.

Born 1949. Years past, history moved on, then Kneehigh happened. And I was there from the very beginning... "Do you want to be in a play?" "Yeah, ok!" (it was that simple back then!) and I worked with the company, over the years, as actor, maker and graphic designer.

2016 saw my final Kneehigh performance, as Grandaddy Jake in FUP (from the novel by Jim Dodge; adapted and directed by Simon Harvey). I reprised my role as Jake - when FUP was remounted in 2023 - with a highly successful run at the Minack.

In 2013, working with director Simon Harvey, my first solo show was created. We developed a style of story-telling that is exciting and accessible; where character driven narratives and physical theatre meet spoken word, wit and sometimes, downright daftness!

Our first collaboration, Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations, met with great success and further titles followed: Bram Stoker’s Dracula; Homer’s Odyssey; another Charles Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol and Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.
Running time 90 minutes
