Tutor:  Annabel Hill of Appledore Print Studio.

Discover pattern-making on this intense but very satisfying course!

From drawings of still-life flowers and vegetables provided, you will learn how to create a ‘design unit’ to repeat your image seamlessly across and down a length of fabric. Transfer this image to a lino block, carve and ink up to print onto tester fabrics and your own cushion/tote bag.

Templates will be provided for those unsure of drawing so the course is very suitable for complete beginners and more experienced too.

10am-4pm.

Tea & Coffee available throughout the day for a small donation.

If a workshop you'd like to do is fully booked ring Box Office (01805 624624) to be added to the waiting list, you might be lucky! This also helps us ascertain the demand for particular workshops when programming.

About Annabel:

Annabel Hill is a designer and printmaker living in Appledore, North Devon where the beauty of the natural environment inspires her to create designs and prints at her studio.

Growing up in  London in a family of art lovers, she took early inspiration from frequent visits to art galleries as well as idyllic holidays in Shropshire.

In her late teens, her love for the environment and art led her to study both onto degree level. Nature is always the main focus of her artwork.

Her Textile Design degree gave her the skills to create patterns abstracted from images and drawings of plant life.

Since moving to North Devon,  Annabel has homed in on botanical imagery from hedgerows and from rock pools. Seed heads and buds are also good imagery.

Her home-based studio now has several presses which she uses to create a wide range of prints. Patterns are then developed from printwork using digital software, and then repeated onto natural fabrics. Block prints and screen prints also are made.
