Emma Marston Appointed as New Chief Executive of The Plough Arts Centre

29 July 2024

July 29th, 2024 – The Plough Arts Centre is delighted to announce the appointment of Emma Marston as its new Chief Executive. Emma Marston brings a wealth of experience from her successful career in both the charitable and broadcasting sectors, ready to lead The Plough into a new era of growth and innovation.

Emma Marston joins The Plough Arts Centre following her successful tenure as Director of Families in Grief, a charity dedicated to supporting bereaved children, young people, and their families. Under her leadership over a decade, the charity expanded its reach and impact, enhancing the lives of countless families through compassionate and effective support services.

Emma has also spent over fifteen years in broadcasting, more recently as the host of the breakfast show on The Voice radio station, and previously working as an executive producer with prestigious stations such as BBC Radio 1 and Heart. Her background in the media gives her exceptional skills in communication, community engagement, and strategic development, all of which she plans to bring to her new role at The Plough.

"We are entering an exciting new chapter at The Plough Arts Centre, and I am thrilled to step into the role of Chief Executive,” said Emma Marston. “My unique experience in both the media and charity sectors will bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to this vibrant community hub. I am looking forward to building on The Plough’s rich legacy, and enabling the arts to continue to thrive whilst fostering creativity, collaboration and community spirit along the way”

Fran Hardiman, Chair of the Trustees said "The Trustees were impressed with Emma Marston’s enthusiasm and passion for making a difference in all that she does. Her wealth of experience at Families in Grief included raising significant funds, designing and implementing a digital service during covid and growing the Charity to meet the overwhelming needs of children and young people affected by grief. Her knowledge and skills in broadcasting and journalism will add new dimensions to The Plough and The Trustees look forward to working with her.

As we look forward to The Plough’s 50th Birthday next year, it is our intention to leave a legacy which will set The Plough up ready to celebrate its 100th Birthday in due course."

Emma Marston will start her new role as Chief Executive on August 27th 2024.
