Sciencedipity Children's Owl Pellet Dissection Workshop

Please note booking information
Sciencedipity

A fascinating workshop on owl pellets! This workshop is funded by The Barnstaple Community Sparks Fund and is just £5 per attendee.

Find out about what owl pellets really are (they're not poop!).

You'll get 1 pellet to dissect and the tools to help you do this carefully. Identify the tiny bones that you find inside the pellet using our own colourful ID chart. Each pellet is guaranteed to have lots of bones and at least 1 skull!
You can try to reconstruct the skeleton of the small animal that was eaten.
We'll use microscopes to explore the bones close up.
You'll be able to clean and preserve the bones should you wish to keep them - you can take them home if you want.

WHEN/WHERE/
2 sessions to choose from 10.30-12, or 12.30-2pm
Both at St Anne's Art & Community Centre in Barnstaple Town Centre.

OPTIONAL EXTRA WHEN BOOKING:
When you book, you'll have the option to "add on" an owl pellet kit which you can take away after the workshop for more dissecting at home, or even as a unique gift! This is an optional extra and is not needed to participate in the workshop as everything is provided for the workshop.
