The Expanded British Flora (in Contrast)
Pete Yeo will lead a walk around the outskirts of Torrington which explores the key words found within the title of Keble Martin’s magnum opus - British and flora - along with associated terms such as wildflower, native, alien, naturalised, invasive, etc.
What is the bigger picture behind these word-ideas and how useful are they?
In the process we may see Keble Martin’s Flora as a moment in time, inevitably transient, yet holding memories of the past - and clues to the future.
The walk will begin at the 1646 car park and last for around two hours, exiting in one direction down to the river and looping back up from Taddiport.
