Richard Herring: Talking Cock

This event has already happened!

It’s an object of shame and pride; it inspires laughter and fear; it’s a symbol of power, yet it’s incredibly fragile; it can be a pound of flesh or an ounce of winkles, it can be used to express both love and hate; it creates life, it can condemn us to death... and it can do wees as well. How can one tiny flap of sponge and sinew be all these things? Richard Herring intends to find out in this tenth anniversary update of the critically acclaimed show that exposes the truth about men and their flutes of love. Sell-out at the Edinburgh Fringe 2002 and Melbourne Comedy Festival 2003, translated and performed in over a dozen European countries, published as a book by Ebury press.

“Man’s answer to the Vagina Monologues” Guardian

“An impassioned and thoughtful disquisition on masculinity, cultural identity and sexual anthropology… but there are still loads of jokes about porridge guns.” Observer

“His Cock is as funny and fascinating for women as it is for men. I loved it. I only wished it could have been longer ”Scotsman

Meditation

with Simon Millward

Meditation is a way of learning to relax and to respond creatively to the challenges which life throws at us. It can also help to reduce stress. By learning to meditate we are finding space in our busy lives to get in touch with ourselves and develop awareness of what is going on in our mind and in the world around us. If we think of finding happiness, inner peace, as a state of mind then meditation can help us to achieve that goal.

I teach two complimentary practices, one which focuses on the breath and the other which focuses on the emotions. I have been meditating for a number of years and learnt the practices with the Triratna Buddhist Community, a movement which has adapted Buddhism in a way that is relevant for western cultures.

If you are interested in coming or want to know more please give me a ring on 01769 579829.
