Introduction to Mask

Explore the basic principles of mask in this half day workshop and develop the techniques and physicality needed to create a mask performance. The session will also be looking at the different ways that masks can be used. We will then work together to devise a small piece as part of the workshop.

Clay Relief Workshop
with Imogen Hallam
Come and create a clay relief wallhanging or tablet out of stoneware clay which once fired is unglazed, frost-proof and suitable for either inside or out in the garden. Firstly you will be working your 2D design ideas through drawings and plans then translating the drawings into the clay relief form. Themes that work particularly well in clay relief are: Green man or garden spirit face wall hangings; animals; fish& sea creature; mythical beasts or gargoyles. Imogen will advise about firing etc.
£35 includes materials. There is an extra cost for firing.

Contemporary Embroidery
with Sarah Harper
Embroidery has long been associated with elaborate designs and hours of stitching, however more and more people are turning back to this restful pastime to create small pictures, cards and gifts for friends and family with a modern twist. On this one day course you will learn a variety of stitches from simple back stitch to blanket, chain stitch and much more. In the morning you will learn the techniques and equipment needed to start embroidering and in the afternoon you will design and make your own hoop framed embroidered picture using the stitches you have learned along with appliqué techniques which add more dimension to the finished item. All equipment and materials will be provided.
