European Gypsy swing with the music and rhythms of New Orleans, the Caribbean and Brazil. Elegant and impassioned clarinettist, Evan Christopher combines virtuosity and immaculate taste with a strong root in New Orleans jazz. With guitarists David Blenkhorn and Dave Kelbie, and bassist Sebastien Girardot, he celebrates the music of the legendary Django Reinhardt and enlivens swing-era classics with fresh interpretations and virtuosic improvisation. Their first CD, Django à la Créole was released to much worldwide acclaim. The 2nd, ‘Finesse’ was the 2010 Sunday Times jazz album of the year!
Evan is an activist regarding Hurricane Katrina and will lead a pre-concert 30 minute Q and A at 7pm
