Critically-acclaimed singer and writer Emily Portman, renowned for her lark-like voice and unique songwriting talents, performs new music from her second album Hatchling with her trio: an off-kilter collection of contemporary lullabies and old apple-tree wassails. Hatchling is set against a backdrop of England’s country lanes and urban backstreets. Inspired by the darker underbelly of folklore and balladry, Emily weaves harmony-rich narratives of both the magical and the monstrous, accompanied by viola player Lucy Farrell (fresh from touring with The Unthanks) and Jonny Farrell.
