The provision of education through arts projects is fundamental to the ethos of The Plough, where we aim to provide a strong educational programme for all areas of the curriculum including further education.
We work closely with schools and colleges to provide:
Exhibitions
A range of exhibitions from professional artists which complement the arts curriculum in key stages 1, 2, 3 & 4 providing the opportunity for pupils to study particular artists and art forms. School parties are encouraged to ask for private viewings to any exhibition where they are able to receive additional details about the artist and exhibition.
Annual Schools Project for the Schools in the ‘Torrington Learning Community’
An annual, topic-based collaborative project led by professional artists aimed to support the primary, junior and secondary schools in the local learning community. This project culminates in an exhibition of students’ artwork at The Plough Gallery.
Curriculum based projects for Primary and Secondary schools across Devon
The co-ordination of arts based projects which explore areas of the curriculum through all areas of the arts. We are able to work individually with schools and colleges or on a collaborative basis.
School based workshops
Co-ordination of school based professional artist led workshops. These workshops are able to support curriculum topics and cover a range of media; inspiring students to explore new skills and techniques whilst providing a greater understanding of the individual topic.
Art workshops at The Plough to support GCSE, A level and Degree level students.
The Plough provides a range of professional artist-led workshops, which explore a wide range of techniques and skills in a variety of arts media. These workshops are programmed on Saturdays or during holidays throughout the year. They are open to all members of the public and complement the art, textiles and design coursework for students over the age of 14 years.
The Plough Arts Centre has the expertise to co-ordinate a range of educational opportunities for all education sectors or individuals. If you would like any further information or would like to discuss a particular project please contact Pippa Jenkins on 01805 622552 or email
